Cutoff sampling without drowning in noise
Late receipts tempt teams to restart samples. Resist. Fix the frame once, then document replacements deliberately.
On Day −3, define the population by system timestamp and business event—not by “what feels risky.” Write the rule in one sentence so a backup reviewer can apply it at 22:00.
Separate frame from evidence
The sample list is the frame. Screenshots and shipping docs are evidence. When a line must be replaced, keep the original line visible with a struck status and a reason. Restarting the whole list erases the audit story.
Bias toward edges
Items posting within a few hours of Day 0, or crossing warehouse vs. billing timestamps, deserve denser coverage than mid-month noise. That is financial auditing guidance for workflow reviews, not a statistical treatise—state your bias openly.
When volume explodes
